Mara nyingi katika maisha yetu ya kila siku tumesikia sana maneno kama “nipe tano” “chukua tano” maneno haya yamekuwa maarufu sana na katika mazingira tofauti maneno haya yamekuwa yakiashiria ushindi, au hali ya mafanikio au furaha baada ya hali fulani. Vivyo hivyo katika maisha yetu ya kutafuta kufanikiwa katika yaleyote tunayoyafanya kilasiku viko vitu au ziko hatua ambazo huwa zinatulazimu kuzijua au kuzipitia kama kweli tunamaanisha na tunayadhamiria hayo mafanikio tunayoyatafuta. Ni ukweli kwamba watu wengi hutamani sana mafanikio na kuyazungumzia sana katika maneno yao ya kilasiku lakini kwa bahati mbaya hawajawahi kuyaishi mafanikio hayo kwasababu ya kutokuwa na dhamira madhubuti katika kuyaelekea mafanikio hayo. Kama ambavyo tunaposema “high five” tunagonga mikono yetu na vidole vyetu vitano vikiwa vimefunguka kuashiria ushindi basi vivyohivyo nitajaribu kugusia hatua tano au vitu vitano vitakavyokusaidia kugonga mkono wa “ high five” baada ya kuyafikia mafanikio yako. Kwakifupi vitu hivyo ni,

ü  Uwezo binafsi wa kuvikagua vile ulivyo navyo ndani yako,

ü  Uwezo wa kusimama au kuwa na msimamo,

ü  Uwezo wa kupiga hatua,

ü  Uwezo wakujitengenezea sura ya maisha yako, (simama, jiamini, songa mbele)

ü  Na uwezo wa kuyaongoza maisha yako.

 Fuatana na mimi katika kuzichambua hatua hizi hapa chini.

    1Kuwa na uwezo binafsi wa kuvikagua vile ulivyonavyo ndani yako (Take a stock)

Katika maisha yetu ya kilasiku hatunabudi kujifunza namna ya kujikagua sisi wenyewe, kuvikagua vile tulivyonavyo ndani yetu kwasababu ni ukweli kwamba pasipo kujikagua sisi wenyewe basi hatutaweza kuyatambua mapungufu tuliyonayo na kama hatutoyatambua mapungufu tuliyonayo basi mapungufu hayo hayatoweza kushuhulikiwa na kuondolewa, maana yake ni kwamba tutazidi kuishi na mapungufu yetu na hivyo kuathiri ufanisi wetu na mwisho wake mafanikio yetu kwa ujumla yataathirika. Labda nikupe mfano wa mtu mwenye duka, mara kwa mara mmiliki wa duka huwa na muda wa kuvikagua vitu au mali aliyonayo dukani (stock taking) na hapa huwezakutambua nini kimepungua, nini hakipo kabisa na nini kipo kwa wingi. Katika kujikagua sisi wenyewe sio tu tunapata uhakika wa vile tusivyonavyo (weaknesses) bali pia tunapata kufahamu vile tulivyonavyo kwa wingi (strengths). Jifunze kufanya tathmini ya maisha yako binafsi kila wakati, tathmini matendo yako ya kilasiku, maneno yako ya kilasiku, mitazamo yako (perceptions and attitudes) halafu angalia wapi kuna mapungufu na wapi kuna fursa zaidi). Baadhi ya mapungufu ambayo twaweza kuwa nayo katika maisha ni kama vile mapungufu ya kihisia (emotional gaps), mapungufu ya kiroho (spiritual gaps), mapungufu ya kiujuzi (skills gaps), mapungufu ya kifedha (financial gaps) na mengineyo mengi. Kumbuka, uzuri ni kwamba kila tunapoweza kuyatambua mapungufu haya tunaziona fursa za kuweza kuyashuhulikia.

   2.  Uwezo wa kuwa na msimamo (Take a stand)

Wengi wetu tumeshindwa kuyafikia malengo tuliyowahi kujiwekea kwasababu tu hatuna misimamo katika vile tunavyoviamini kwahiyo inakuwa rahisi kuyumbishwa na kupeperushwa na kila  upepo unaokuja upande wetu. Ili kufikia mafanikio tunayoyatamani hatunabudi kuwa na misimamo fulani katika maisha. Naupenda msemo unaosema kama  huwezi kuwa na msimamo katika chochote basi utachukuliwa na chochote “He who stands for nothing will fall for anything”. Kama wewe ni kijana na huna msimamo katika chochote basi ni rahisi kujikuta unachukuliwa na vingine ikiwemo madawa ya kulevya, umalaya n.k. Kama wewe ni mfanyakazi na hauna msimamo katika baadhi ya mambo basi ni rahisi kujikuta unabebwa na mengi kama vile rushwa na ubadhilifu. Ni vema kufahamu kila wakati maishani kuwa kama hauna msimamo katika ufanisi basi utaangukia katika uzembe na kutowajibika, na kama hautakuwa na msimamo katika kuhakikisha unafanikiwa basi utaangukia katika umaskini.

Kusimamia kitu fulani  maanayake ni kuwa na nidhamu, kujua kanuni, na kukiheshimu kitu kile unachokisimamia. Kanuni na nidhamu hizi ndizo zinazotuongoza katika maisha yetu ya kilasiku katika kufikia kile tunachotamani. Amua mwenyewe ninini unasimamia na ni wapi unaiweka misimamo yako kwasababu vile tunavyoamua kuwa na misimamo navyo ndivyo vinavyosimama kama misingi katika maisha yetu.

3. Uwezo wakupiga hatua (Take a step)

Yamkini unatamani sana kufanikiwa na kilasiku unaongelea sana mafanikio, ni vema kujua kwamba mafanikio yetu hayaji kwa kuyatamani sana au kuyaongelea sana bali katika uwezo binafsi wa kuamua kupiga hatua. Yawezekana uko katika chombo kizuri tu cha usafiri lakini utajikuta unapitwa na kila mtu, hata wale wenye vyombo vibovu vya usafiri nao watakupita kama utakuwa umekaa tu kwenye chombo chako pasipo kuruhusu mwendo. Chukua hatua kuelekea mustakabali wako, angalia mbele yako unaona nini? nini ambacho unakiona kwenye mustakabali wako? Nini ungetamani ukipate kwenye mustakabali wako? Anza kufanya kila kinachohusika ili kuiona hiyo ndoto yako ikiwa dhahiri. Anza kupiga hatua ya kwanza na hatua nyingine zitakuwa rahisi kufuatia. Kamwe usitishike na umbali unaouona kuelekea mustakabali wako, jinsi unavyopiga hatua ujasiri wako unafunguka na kukua, kumbuka kuwa kila hatua unayoipiga hatakama nindogo kiasi gani inakusogeza karibu na mustakabali wako. Usisahau tu kuwa ziko mbio unatakiwa kuzikimbia na uko ushindi unatakiwa kuushinda ilikufikia hapo unapotamani, kwahiyo piga hatua.

4. Uwezo wa kujitengenezea sura ya maisha yako (Take a shape)

Katika maisha yetu ya kilasiku ni ama uamue kuitengeneza sura ya maisha yako au kuibomoa sura hiyo, wengine wetu maisha yetu hayajawahi kuwa na sura nzuri ya kuvutia, sisi wenyewe ndiyo wenye uwezo wakuamua kuitengeneza sura hiyo kuwa vile tunataka iwe, ukiamua kukaa tu pasipo kufanya chochote basi umekusudia kwa dhamira halisi kuiharibu sura ya maisha yako mwenyewe. Ulimwengu waleo unabadilika kwa kasi sana, ili kuweza kubakia wenye maana na wenye umuhimu basi hatuna budi kuwezana na mabadiliko hayo. Kama hatutoweza kuyaweza mabadiliko ya karne hii basi mabadiliko hayo yatatuweza sisi (If you don’t manage change change will mismanage you). Fahamu dhahiri kwamba karne ya 21 haijaleta tu fursa bali na   changamoto tele.

Lazima tuweze na tuwe na ujuzi wa kufanya tabia zetu za kilasiku kuendana na mabadiliko haya, lazima kuwa kasi kama vile kasi ya mabadiliko ilivyo, lazima kuwa wenye uwezo wa kuendana na mazingira kwasababu ukijaribu kukakamaa na kutokubali mabadiliko (being rigid) katika enzi hizi basi lazima utavunjika. Chamsingi wote tujitahidi kufanya hata yale ambayo maranyingine hayaturidhishi sana, yale ambayo tunaona yanatugarimu zaidi na kutuminya zaidi, kumbuka mafanikio sio wakati wote yanakuja tukiwa tunayasubiria kwa kicheko bali maranyingine kwa kuumia (we must be willing to step out of our comfort zones)

5. Uwezo wa kukikalia kiti na kuyaongoza maisha yako mwenyewe (Take a seat)

Ziko nyakati ambazo wengi wetu hatuwezi kufika tunapotamani kufika kwasababu dereva anayeendesha chombo chako sio wewe, wakati huohuo unafikiria kuelekea pale unapotamani wewe. Ningumu sana. Katika maisha kama kweli unaifahamu ndoto yako na unaiona kesho yako na unaitamani sana kuifikia basi amua kukaa kwenye kiti cha dereva wewe mwenyewe na kuendesha chombo kuelekea huko. Wengi wetu sio kwamba tumewakabidhi wengine udereva wa safari yetu kwa kujua bali kwa kutokujua, mara unaona muelekeo wa safari sio ule ulioutarajia, yamkini sasa dereva uliyemkabidhi kiti anakupeleka kwenye ndoto yake siyo yakwako tena. Sasa amuakuingia kwenye kiti cha dereva wewe mwenyewe, hayo ni maisha yako na siyo ya mwingine. Kamwe usiache furaha na mafanikio yako katika mikono ya wengine.  Kubali na kuwa tayari kubeba majukumu. Kama inatokea unafanya makosa basi usijitetee na kukwepa, kwasababu kujitetea na kukwepa yawezakuwa njia tu ya kuchomoka na siyo njia ya kuendelea mbele. Usiwalaumu wengine kwa madhaifu na kushindwa kwako, kwasababu kwa kufanya hivyo unaipoteza nguvu ya kukua. Chukua tano!!!!

James 4:13-17. Apostle Paul is teaching us to make plans with the qualifier “If the Lord will”
Dreams vs Goals
  • The subconscious mind does not know the difference between fact and fiction
  • Dreams helps us define goals
  • When dreams are given a purpose, meaning and action they become goals
Goals creation
·        Think it
·         Believe it
·         Write it
·        Live it
Have a culture of going back to your subconscious mind and take what you dreamt or what you were thinking and put it in writing. As soon as you put it in writing it become a goal.

Goal achievement
·         Time it
·         Defend it
·         Personalize it
·         Evaluate it
For instance if you said I want to have my lunch at 1:00pm and you had it at 2pm you haven’t successfully achieve your goal because it is out of time. (Many goals are achieved out of time bound, which is also a weakness)
  
  Goals orientation
·         Adjusting skills
·         Increasing ability
Adjust yourself to suit the environment so as to achieve your goals. Don’t just be rigid.
Dare to add your value by adding your knowledge and ability, some goals will not be achieved easily by the knowledge you have.

Know your ability first before you go for a certain goal
Know your talents, gifts and abilities. Know areas where you’re good at and where you are not.
 
Goals Integrity
  • Consistency with personality
Know your personality. Set your goals according to your personality.
Consistency – doing (almost) same, similar thing/things. Producing same results
 Strategy/Tactics
  • Register on motivational websites. Go through motivational materials e.g. books, articles, web pages, video clips e.t.c.
  • Avoid social comparison
  • Develop strategies for coping in tough moments. Your own strategies to move on after hard times/ failures
  • Take care of your body
  • Stay accountable
  • Upgrade your association. Change your friends. If you are the smartest person in your group you are in the wrong group. Have coffee/ a drink with people you always admire to be like.
  • Choose your key word. What is it that your mouth can’t stop saying every day? Remember that can build you or break you, e.g. success, breakthrough, fame, life hardship.
 Understand that
·         Life is not easy
·         You will fail sometimes
·         There is a lot you don’t know
·         You can’t do every thing
·         There is a lot you can’t control
·         You can’t change the past
·         A  map is useless if you don’t know where you are
·         Excellence is a journey not a destination
·         Vague goals produce vague results. Say what you want, and say it the way you want.
 Lies
  • Failure is bad. Remember, Failure is also a step in learning
  • My dreams are impossible
  • I don’t have enough yet to be happy
  •  I am not ready because I am not good enough yet
These are lies we sometimes hear from others or sometimes telling ourselves
